Sylvie de Souza

Sylvie de Souza is an accomplished Emergency Medicine Physician and healthcare leader with over two decades of experience in clinical practice, emergency management, healthcare operations, education, and leadership. Originally from Ouidah, Benin, she earned her MD from SUNY Downstate and completed her residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, where she held key roles, including Chair of Emergency Medicine and Medical Director of Ambulance Services. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic garnered national recognition. Currently an Emergency Medicine Physician at CITYMD, Dr. de Souza also volunteers with the Medical Reserve Corps, reflecting her dedication to public health and community service. She has been featured in The New York Times, People Magazine, TRUE Africa, CNN, and MSNBC for her frontline contributions and appeared on the cover of The New York Times Sunday Edition on January 16, 2022.
